Conformism - A disease for an organization

For a conformist , life is driven by his bounded rationality .This bounded rationality has been created on the basis of certain customs or rules followed by the people around him in his life . Those customs and rules become so deeply imbibed in them , that they cannot go beyond those rules and try to examine the correctness of those rules . For them , the world become a region of white and black - no space for grey . They are afraid to challenge the institution , or to challenge the superior . A land full of conformist leads to a nation , which lacks dynamicity and tends to become stagnant. This is also same for an organization . A society full of conformists makes me to recall a literary piece written by Tagore ( Tasher Desh) . It beautifully dwells upon the fact how a land full of conformist could be harmful . Ability to question, ability to go beyond the existing , ability to innovate takes a hit in a conformist society . Though critics may argue that a non conformist society may result in anarchy . But for creation , innovation , a bit of anarchy is not bad too . It is the bit  of anarchy that leads to renaissance. A fixed pattern , same channelized thought process leads to a mediocre society (also true for an organization) . First of all  , one must realize , it is our ability to think that separates us from the machine and always following a fixed set of rule demolish that advantage . An organization , if wants to excel in this VUCA times need to be dynamic , need to have people , who can take up the charge & can act a bit differently, when required. Those days of "yes sir" employee and authoritarian leaders are gone. To be successful now, innovation , out of the box thinking must be encouraged . Putting it in a different way , a bit of non conformism must be promoted to make the organization thrive. It again reminds me of a Tagore song(from Tasher Desh)-
"  বাঁধ ভেঙে দাও, বাঁধ ভেঙে দাও, বাঁধ ভেঙে দাও।
          বন্দী প্রাণ মন হোক উধাও॥
          শুকনো গাঙে আসুক

It is again the time to come out of the shell , to encourage and celebrate the participation of the open minded youth (who doesnot suffers from bounded rationality ) to take the charge of a society as well as an organization to make it thrive . Though after all these , the fact that there is a requirement of stability cannot be neglected at all . So , few of stable minds guiding a section non conformist is the way to make a society or an organization thrive in its truest sense
